Contributor Terms
These Terms apply when a person submits material for public or shared use in Langa Library, including reviews, metadata, corrections, translations, annotations, essays, reading guides, artwork, covers, audio, research, or other contributions.
1. Eligibility and authority
You must meet the account-age rules and have legal capacity. If contributing for an organization, you confirm authority to bind it. Do not submit confidential employer, client, school, or institutional material without permission.
2. Your warranties
You confirm that the contribution is original or lawfully licensed; required permissions and attribution are provided; it does not knowingly violate rights or law; source claims are accurate to the best of your knowledge; and required AI-assistance or conflict disclosures are complete.
3. License options
Each contribution flow must clearly identify one of these models before submission:
- Display license: non-exclusive permission for Langa Library to host, format, display, preserve, and promote the contribution.
- Open license: the named open license displayed in the contribution flow.
- Assignment or commissioned work: only under a separate signed agreement.
No hidden or retroactive license should be applied. The submission record must store the accepted license version and timestamp.
4. Editing and presentation
Langa Library may make non-substantive technical or editorial changes for spelling, formatting, metadata, accessibility, translation display, thumbnails, cropping, file conversion, or consistency. Material changes should be attributed or discussed with the contributor where practical.
5. Acceptance and removal
Submission does not guarantee publication, prominence, permanent display, certification, or compensation. A contribution may be rejected, labeled, edited, archived, replaced, or removed for quality, relevance, duplication, rights, safety, privacy, security, accessibility, or legal reasons.
6. Attribution
We aim to use the contributor name or pseudonym selected in the submission. Attribution may be adjusted where false, misleading, unsafe, legally restricted, technically impractical, or inconsistent with the accepted license. Contributors must not claim endorsement or official employment.
7. Compensation and relationship
Unless a separate signed agreement states otherwise, contributions are voluntary and unpaid. Credit, badges, certificates, access, supporter status, or portfolio visibility do not create employment, worker, contractor, agency, partnership, fiduciary, or ownership relationships.
8. Contributor access
Elevated tools and unpublished information are privileged. Contributors must protect credentials, avoid unauthorized exports, follow review workflows, disclose conflicts, preserve audit trails, and keep non-public moderation or personal data confidential.
9. Conflicts and promotion
Disclose a material relationship with a book, author, publisher, product, organization, or campaign. Do not use contributor tools for self-promotion, retaliation, concealed advertising, or reputation manipulation.
10. AI-assisted contributions
Where the contribution rules require disclosure, identify the tool and level of assistance. You remain responsible for rights, accuracy, attribution, harmful content, and final review. An AI system cannot be the legal contributor or rights warrantor.
11. Withdrawal
You may request withdrawal. We will consider the accepted license, preservation needs, attribution, integrations into shared works, legal records, and the rights of others. Openly licensed or incorporated contributions may not be fully retractable, but profile association may be removed where reasonably possible.
12. Enforcement and appeal
Violation may result in correction, rejection, removal, loss of privileges, suspension, or termination. Significant decisions may be appealed under the Content Moderation & Appeals Policy.
